Abstract
The aim of this paper is to complement previous research on the adoption and use of mobile devices and ubiquitous computing by introducing theories from consumer research and media use, namely the “uses and gratification” model. In this paper, we make a broad assumption that ubiquitous computing characteristics and user motivation features can be considered to be key characteristics of ubiquitous computing enabled mobile device adoption. Furthermore, this paper explores the impact difference of mobile ubiquitous characteristics on early and late adopters of mobile devices with ubiquitous computing capacity.
