Abstract :
Vertical displacement of the body center of mass (BCOM) reflects the motion of the whole body and it can be used as a relevant indicator in studying and evaluation of human walking. In this work, a methodology to accurately compute vertical displacement of the BCOM in real-time using smart mobile phone equipped with accelerometer sensor has been proposed. The proposed methodology is experimentally evaluated and compared with the kinematics methods. The results have confirmed the accuracy of the proposed methodology, which offers the possibility to use it in various everyday applications.
