Abstract :
A well-validated algorithm based on the finite element method (FEM) for determination of confined turbulent flow with a one equation model used to depict the turbulent viscosity is applied to a smooth straight channel. The overall effects of a zone close to a solid wall, “near wall zone” for predicting the distribution of the pertinent variables in this zone has been investigated. For the present work, a finite element technique based on near wall zone modeling has been advocated and the validation of the imposed technique has been examined and comparison with other techniques which has been made even with case of extension of the near wall zone.
