Abstract :
This paper tries to explain how to use the virtual prototype technology to design an operating mechanism for use with a low voltage circuit breaker through a kinematic analysis of the operating mechanism of a certain type of circuit breaker. By means of the ADAMS software, the author has simulated its motion, thus obtaining some important parameters, such as the coefficient of elasticity, auxilliary position of critical movement, form of components, frictional force, etc. wihich would have some effects on the speed of contact breaking. Moreover, the author also has optimized the most affected parameters and provided a reference for improving the design of circuit breakers.
