Abstract
Teacher-learner talk is often thought to be less important than learner-learner talk in a second language class because it may diminish students´ opportunities to practice their speaking. This paper, based on an analysis of some examples, tries to demonstrate how important teacher-learner talk can be in an L2 class and attempts to present some suggestions for improving it.
