Abstract :
Three different kinds of 4 min quick startup tests on an S-band klystron are performed in order to find out the beam emission and output power performance of the klystron In the first 4mins, the current of the heater is set to different values, and at the 5th minute the klystron starts up. The results show that the klystron can work steadily, and from the 5th to the 15th minute the beam average current and the output power are slowly increased, but less than the full values It´s concluded that the 4mins quick startup can satisfy the demand for an emergency of the klystron, but it isn´t used often because of the decrease of the cathode´s lifetime.
