Abstract :
MIL-STD-1553 has served as the workhorse networking standard of military system integrators and aerospace avionics platforms for over 30 years. With the increasing demand for network bandwidth, high-speed-1553 is developed for some subsystems operate at hundreds of Mbps data rates with co-existing with legacy 1 Mbps systems on the same physical data buses. At any given time, there is one BC and up to 31 RTs, and there may be one or more MT on a data bus. The topology of the 1553 BUS can be varied according to the application, as well as the message flow. Thus, a semi-product simulation equipment is urgent to be developed for testing the whole bus system and some particular terminals. This paper is desired to descript a 1553 based semi-product-simulation technology, which is flexible for both MIL-STD-1553B and high-speed-1553. The developed equipment can be used for developers to emulate the behavior of a designed unit to debug its operation even before it is built. For a system integrator, it can be used to monitor, analyze, display and record system-wide communications data of a complete system. And for a tester, it can record the tested unit´s communication for further analysis.
