It is known that traditional education is teacher-centered, which is associated chiefly with the transmission of knowledge. It is very hard to raise students´ interests and inspire their motives to learn. Consequently, it is ignored that how to develop practical competences for engineering students. The CDIO concept is an innovative educational framework for producing the next generation of engineers. It provides students with an education, which encourages “learn-by-doing” and focuses on engineering fundamentals set in the context of the real world and diverse projects or products. Based on the CDIO concept, a curriculum reform in Java-programming is presented in this article. Also, diverse ways to solve problems may occur in teaching practice are explored. And the output of its implementation and examples are provided as well.
