Abstract
Natural gas is one of the important energy resources and the consumption is rapidly increasing worldwide. In many cases, pipe networks are used for the gas supply to consumers. The temperature along the pipeline continues to decline. Gas hydrates are formed when free water exists in nature gas under appropriate pressure-temperature conditions. And it is a cage-like structure around a smaller guest molecule. The purpose of this paper is to predict the gas hydrates form conditions, and calculate the economical injection rate of ethylene glycol by the PIPESIM software. The result of prediction is very close to the experimental values in a gas field of SINOPEC. In this paper, the gas hydrate form conditions and position are also given by PIPESIM, which will help the operators make an impeccable production planning to avoid the pipeline, throttle valve, and the detector equipment and so on plugging.
