Abstract
The experiments at several source voltages were carried out to clarify the influence of the voltage on various characteristics, arc duration, contact resistance, arc energy, and electrode mass change. The source voltages are changed from 100V to 160V, load current is set to 5A constant, and an electromagnetic contactor is operated continuously up to 100,000 times. The experiments were carried out under the three Modes. In Mode-1, the both arc was generated when contactor was make and break. In Mode-2, when contactor was opened, only break arc was generated. And, when contactor was closed, only make arc was occurred in Mode-3. As a result, the relation between the arc Mode and contact resistance was clarified. The contact resistance of Mode-3 was lowest. In addition, the source voltage was not influenced to contact resistance. The anode arc was expected to be generated in Mode-3.
