Abstract :
The break arc simulation model for aerospace relay is built based on the magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) theory. The contact erosion is considered and the electrical conductivey of the plasma sheath in the arc root region is equalized in this model. The static arc characteristics with silver vaper and nitrigen are acquired with the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software FLUENT. The effect of the silver vapor on the static arc temperature and arc voltage is analysed. Experiment results are in accordance with the simulation results, which prove the rationality and validity of the arc model .
