Abstract :
Dust particle contamination is generally recognized as one of the major inducement to the electrical connector failure in communication systems. Contamination within the connector may affect the signals which is transporting through and turn it to be some fault signals. Wavelet Transform is proved to be a great detector and has been widely applied in power systems. However, relatively little work has been focused on its application in the electrical connectors in telecommunication systems. In this work, the detection of fault signal was studied by using wavelet transform method. A series of experiments were conducted to observe the resulted influences on the contaminated connector. An algorithm based on the wavelet theory was developed to detect the fault signals. Corresponding simulations utilizing MATLAB were performed to test and validate the algorithm.
