Abstract
This paper presents a simple generalized scalar pulsewidth modulation (GPWM) algorithm with reduced complexity for three-level diode-clamped inverter fed induction motor drives. The proposed GPWM algorithm uses the instantaneous phase voltages only to generate the modulating waveforms.. The sampled reference phase voltages are added with a unique zero sequence signal in order to generate required modulating waveforms. By varying the zero state time partition parameter (k0) in the zero sequence signal, various discontinuous pulsewidth modulation (DPWM) algorithms along with space vector pulsewidth modulation (SVPWM) algorithm can be generated in the linear modulation region. To validate the proposed algorithm numerical simulation studies have been carried out on v/f controlled induction motor drive and results are presented.
