Abstract
Power economic dispatch is a problem whose effective solution would be very helpful in saving money for power market operators. A direct solution to the Multi-Area Economic Dispatch problem is proposed. The method is suitable for radial interconnections of every size and complexity. The core of the procedure is in the direct graphical solution of Kuhn-Tucker conditions. A detailed explanation of the procedure and a comparison with other results from literature are provided. The method returns excellent results in terms of cost minimization.
