Abstract
Generation and associated loads were viewed as a subsystem or a "micro-grid", micro-grid can improve the utilization of renewable energy and important load supply reliability. Currently the protection relay of LV system mainly is over-current protection, but simply over-current protection can no meet the requirements of micro-grid. In this paper, the electrical characteristics and fault characteristics of renewable energy and micro-grid system have been summarized, the new relay principle and configuration program have been proposed.The model of the micro-grid power system is simulated in PSCAD.
