  • Abstract
    The ‘Seeking Future Star of Science Scheme’ is the first evidence-based award targeting young scientists(under 40) in China jointly launched by Science News Bi-Weekly (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Elsevier since September 2009 based on a combination of bibliometric evaluation and peer review by leading Chinese scientists. The awards have created huge impacts in Chinese science community. More than 400 promising young scientists from more than 100 universities and research institutes participated and over 100 media had reported about the event. The paper is to elaborate the bibliometric analysis framework mainly comprises three main indicators: 1) The level of relative references of representative article Representative articles is papers published in the year from 2005 to 2009. 2) Personal H Index: A list of reference papers which participants provided before are retrieved in the Scopus database, then individual H index is calculated. 3) Personal international influence The international influence of representative article represents the national distribution of quotation of the representative article submitted by the participants. Then a systematic peer review framework is also constructed and presented. With 2 years practice, the evaluation system is established, accepted (by Chinese Academy of Sciences and All-China Youth Federation as the organizer) and proved to be effective. Now the third round of scheme is undergoing and more young scientific star in China are to be recognized soon.
