Abstract :
Resistive hose limits the useful range of unconditioned, relativistic electron beams to a few betatron wavelengths in dense gas like air. Conditioning extends the range by detuning hose to reduce its growth rate and by reducing the initial perturbations that seed hose. This paper describes the theory and application of some of the conditioning schemes used on SuperIBEX.
