Abstract
On the strength of experimental findings we consider problems of creating high-impedance focused and unfocused electron beams of the megavolt power level. The use of dielectric inserts with electrodes inside is shown to permit electron beam focusing at an accelerating voltage of over 1.5 MV, at currents below 10 kA, and with pulse duration of ca 50 ns
