Abstract :
An S-band injector of 1+1/2 microwave cavity. with thermionic cathode and operating at frequency of 2998 MHz. has being theoretically and experimentally researched at the Institute of Applied Electronics. CAEP. The injector consists of 1+1/2 accelerating cavities with side coupler and the cavity design is optimized by ourselves. The emitting material of cathode is single-crystal lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6). It is expermentally observed that macropulse current is 1.67 A and its electron energy 0.8 MeV under the repeat frequency of 50 Hz.
