Abstract :
This paper analyses the effects of firm-level aspects of alliance collaborations on decision-making on commercializing technology. These effects have become more important for entrepreneurs in their efforts to compete in technology-based markets. The conceptual ideas were developed through business´s preferences of adoptions in cooperation with alliances. It tests these empirically with a pilot questionnaire survey concerning strategic alliances in the food processing industry in Thailand. The results show that successful firms engaged in social interaction with their alliance partners and had realistic expectations about opportunity for access any resources, partner´s organizational management style and personal sharing between organizations. The findings also showed a significant positive impact of characteristics of technology, opportunity to access any resources, market and financial benefit potential on the adoption of formal agreements. It is demonstrated that innovation and technology policies should take into consideration the preferences and intentions of technology business players.
