Abstract :
An experiment of the Two-Beam Acceleration is reported. An intense short microwave pulse of X-band generated with an IREB on a gyro-BWO was utilized. A matter of main concern is whether the radiation could really serve as the power source for acceleration of another electron beam even with its short pulse duration (a few ns). The microwave fed to the series of cavities where a 50 keV electron beam was injected. A part of the beam particles got the energy of 5 keV. The result is explained in the framework of the ordinary theory of the rf accelerating structures and shows that the TBA scheme wili be operated successfully with appropriate choice of the parameters.
