Abstract
The main purpose of forensic science is to obtain, analyze and illustrate the medical evidences concerning living or dead bodies involved in legal disputes, so as to apply the evidences in judicial practice. In the analysis of death, the most important point is to determine the cause and manner of death, and to assess both fatal and non-fatal injuries. Nowadays, the conventional anatomical techniques alone can hardly meet the needs of some special prosecution cases of forensic practice. With the development and maturity of diagnostic imaging, computed tomography has been preliminarily applied overseas to the exploratory research of autopsy. At home and abroad, the technology of Virtopsy is mainly applied to the following fields: forensic anthropology, forensic traumatology, forensic pathology, and forensic scene reconstruction. However, we´ve rarely seen Virtopsy being applied to autopsy of falling death. Thus, it´s necessary to study the application of Virtopsy to autopsy of falling death, and to compare the results with that of traditional anatomy. The accuracy of the results of Virtopsy is proved through comparison.
