  • Abstract
An external electromagnetic pulses (EMP) wave can seriously disrupt or even destroy electronic equipments. The experimental study shows the electromagnetic coupling of EMP to imperfectly shielded cables is the main mechanism to induce transient interference. Then the mathematical model of field-to-line coupling effect is established. A solving approach which combines transmission-line equations with FDTD method is presented to calculate the induced voltage and current responses on the cable in time domain. Analysis of the coupling effect in different conditions is carried out. The study results can provide reference for the optimizing design of shielded cable against EMP.
