Abstract :
In the present paper, the optimum beamforming transmission scheme, in terms of ergodic beamforming capacity maximization, and the necessary-sufficient optimality of beam-forming condition under the MIMO combined CMI-CCI model (correlated Rician MIMO channels) are studied through simulations, providing results for an urban microcellular operational environment with a Line of Sight (LOS) component. The channel is produced using the spatial channel model proposed by 3GPP in [1] and two different channel feedback information models are considered: the short and the long term feedback model. Results indicate that optimum beamforming is the ergodic capacity maximizing spatial transmit pre-coding scheme in the context both feedback models. Moreover, the optimum beamformer is compared to the max SNR Beamformer, which seems to have near-optimum ergodic (beamforming) capacity performance.
