Abstract :
Summary form only given. Brain-machine-brain interfaces dedicated for sensing and treatment applications are emerging technologies for studying the neural activity underlying various pathologies, understanding neurons interactions, detecting mind-driven decisions, locating onset seizures, and for addressing dysfunctions by both microstimulation and drug delivery. This talk covers signal processing algorithms used for onset seizure detection, and circuits and systems techniques applied for the design and integration of multichannel action potentials and neural signal recording and real time analysis and spike detection. Adaptive Thresholding techniques and automatic seizure detection will be presented. Such Microsystems are fully implantable, interconnected to intracortical neural tissues, and include wireless links used to power up and bidirectionally exchange data between implants and external base station. In addition, lab-on-chip based devices intended for neural cell manipulation and detection, through multisite large arrays of electrodes, will be summarized as case study of the intended treatments.
