Abstract
In this paper, we performed a study on diagnostic capability of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by simultaneous measurement of electrogastrography (EGG) and heart rate variability (HRV). This study covered 4 old GERD patients and 10 young healthy volunteers, their results were compared by significance test. In the results of EGG, the decline in gastric myoelectrical activity and the extended cycle of gastric activity were confirmed in old patients. And in the results of HRV, the decline in autonomic nerves systems (ANS) was confirmed in old patients. Also the all indices of old patients were different evidently in young healthy volunteers. Therefore it is suggested that old GERD patients are distinguished from healthy volunteers by the simultaneous measurement of EGG and HRV.
