Abstract :
In today´s world of control systems there are various devices such as computers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) that need accurate time for working properly. In order to maintain a precise time in those time needing systems, the time synchronization idea has been developed. In Modern control systems like Distributed Control System (DCS) and Field control system, a central clock is used to get accurate time from an external time source (for example a GPS clock) and then broadcast it to DCS network. In this research we have designed and implemented a network time display capable of getting the broadcasted time datagram in the SIEMENS SPPA-T200 DCS. The Clock connects to the Industrial Ethernet Network and can be used in Manufacturing Facilities, Equipment racks, central room or even as wall or desktop clock in DCS network. This clock is synchronized through DCS Network to GPS Time.
