  • Abstract
This paper presents an implementation of three-phase Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) using character of triangle function (CTF) based control algorithm for reactive power compensation for voltage regulation and power factor correction, harmonic elimination, load balancing of linear/nonlinear loads. CTF based control algorithm is used for extraction of fundamental load active and reactive power components of load currents which are used for estimating the reference source currents. This algorithm requires only multipliers, low pass filters and summers so it is simple and fast. A DSTATCOM is developed and its performance is tested using a DSP. The performance of DSTATCOM is found satisfactory for different type of loads.
