Abstract :
Is it possible to keep functionality of Electrical and Electronic components and preserve environment? Can we maintain performance and durability by using high performance materials from renewable resources instead of petroleum? How can Electric and Electronic industry be sustainable and keep cost effectiveness? This paper seeks to demonstrate how performance and durability can be combined in better Electrical and Electronic components using a combination of solutions such as sustainable chemistry (Renewably Sourced Material) to Decrease the dependency on fossil fuels while keeping performance up; fire performance, to protect people, asset and environment with new Halogen and Red phosphorous free Flame Retardant materials; and productivity with materials able to reduce production cycle time and energy consumption. Life cycle analyses will be presented as well as key market trends and perceived future needs will be covered, highlighting the growing interest in sustainable product development within the market place.
