Abstract :
Various peer-to-peer architectures for Massively Multiplayer Online Games have been proposed in the last decade in an attempt to reduce host server traffic and processing requirements. This paper proposes a middleware plugin that will transform the game´s network into a hybrid model in an attempt to distribute a portion of server tasks amongst the client machines. The middleware will appear as transparent to both the server and clients and will allow it to be retrofitted into a previously commercially successful game system without any need to reeingineer the client or server software.
