Abstract :
Direct sequence spread spectrum is one of the three fundamental techniques (other two are FHSS and THSS) of Spread Spectrum communication. In DSSS the digital information signal or user data is multiplied with a high-bit rate Barker code to spread the spectrum. After spreading the spectrum, before transmission the consequential wider bandwidth information signal is modulated using fixed carrier frequency. Beside other advantages, DSSS provides the inherent transmission security. This paper presents a proposed scheme that enhances the transmission security of the existing traditional DSSS communication system by using Barker code along its binary compliments (1´s and 2´s) as the spreading codes. This proposed work clearly shows the enhancement in transmission security with the help of comparative example. Here, 11-bit Barker code is used to spread the spectrum; however, other spreading codes having any bit-size may also be used instead of 11-bit Barker code.
