Abstract
Due to the growing ubiquity of monitoring equipment, researchers and developers are faced with the challenge of creating systems that are capable of processing a high number of data streams in order to return useful information to the end user. Data streams are characterized by high throughput and infinite length, which make them impossible to store and process using the traditional Database Management Systems (DBMSs). In this paper a data stream processing software engine that uses timestamp based synchronization between input streams is proposed. The purpose of this software is to provide researchers with a lightweight engine for data stream research. SYNCY was not made to compete with existing data stream management systems (DSMSs).
