Abstract
A control strategy, targeting energetic performances of DC electric drives in steady state and base speed region, is developed. The electromechanical conversion efficiency is strongly dependent on shaft load. Adapting the field current (flux) to the load provides an improved efficiency but in this case the mathematical model of DC drive becomes nonlinear, therefore linearization techniques must be used. The effectiveness of the proposed control method was validated by numerical simulation.
