Abstract
The Coalition Network for Secure Information Sharing (CoNSIS) conducted a large scale experiment in Germany in June 2012. During this experiment, multiple aspects of interoperability in the tactical domain were tested in practice. This paper presents the challenges faced by Task 2, which focuses on service orientation, and the use of Web services technology as a means to achieve interoperability between nations. Furthermore, it describes how these challenges were addressed by the different information infrastructures involved. We also present our experiences with several central Web service standards, and describe some lessons learned when it comes to utilizing these standards in tactical networks.
