Abstract :
Manycast is a group communication paradigm in which one client communicates simultaneously with some threshold number of servers from the pre-specified group members. In some degree, manycast integrates the features of multicast and anycast: multiple destination and dynamical selection. Networks support for manycast has trigged the development of many communication applications such as resource discovery, distributed synchronization, grid computing, fault tolerance etc. Manycast problem are attracting increasing interest from researchers in Ad Hoc networks, delay tolerant networks and optical networks etc. This paper describes some of the major different manycast routing protocols, and further research issues are also discussed.
