Abstract :
The energy flux concentration up to 1012-1013 W/cm2 in the "Angara-5" energy transport final stage will be achieved with conical lines.-Computer calculation methods for magnetic self-insulation computations are developed« Both computer data and experiments indicate the feasibility of highly efficient energy transport insulation regimes in moderately convergent lines. The experiments showed plasma confinement inside inter-electrode gap through out the high voltage pulse duration, with diode impedance drop down to 1 Ohm occuring after plasma appearance at the line output. Beam focussing up to current densities above 5 MA/cm2 and energy density enhancement by three orders of magnitude were experimentally achieved.
