Abstract :
This paper reports a capability study on a superdirective array for a HF band receive antenna. Conventional works on superdirective array considered no mutual couplings, which is not a proper evaluation for the superdirective array. In this paper, mutual couplings are taken into account, by using the FDTD method, to quantitatively evaluate the antenna transmission factor. The simulation results show that even if the antenna transmission factor increases, SNR deterioration is still a small amount. In addition, this paper proposes the antenna configuration to reduce sidelobe levels, without enlarging an antenna aperture. From these discussions, we have confirmed that the superdirective array is capable for a HF band receive antenna.
