Abstract :
The central goal of lightning protection to power lines is to determine whether the device can meet the requirements under current environment with fixed parameters in geography, weather and the device itself. This paper presents models of regional distributions of ground flash densities with different geographical environments, models of thunderstorm day statistics based on the time periods and statistical models of intensity distribution of lightning currents. A model of decision-making supporting for lightning protection is made based on multidimensional decision analysis. Through the design of software platform for validation, the model and its technical method have been proved satisfying the requirements of lightning early warning of lines and the parameters of lightning protection when designing the lines.
