Abstract :
This paper introduces the Canny edge detection algorithm and the implementation of the Canny edge-detection algorithm on an DSP. Canny edge detection significantly preserves the important structural properties in an image, while reducing the amount of data and filters out useless information. The Canny Edge Detection Algorithm is used to illustrate the creation of a "real life" analytics algorithm. It conveniently illustrates the different memory management models possible, the architecture choices to make and also creates an easily visualized demo application for display. This section describes the codec architecture, build process and integration into an application on the DM6446.
