Abstract :
Electricity is widely used in modern society. Improving the speed of information collection is an important way to realize scientific scheduling and management of electrical energy. Application of the smart meter, which is an extension of traditional power meter function and the use of distributed management in electrical energy operations, is an effective way to solve the above problems. This paper presents a design concept of a watt hour meter which transmits data through the network. In the article, it firstly introduces hardware´s design of the three major components, and then designs their software parts. To save bandwidth, the smart meter will get back not all datas to the smart control room, but necessary data to post back. The system to solve the power consumption information updates slowly, power dispatching lacking technical support and other issues will have enormous practical value in the development of energy management automation.
