Abstract :
Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a system architecture model consisting of standardized components such as web services. Its purpose is to provide corporations a flexible integrated interface that can be used repeatedly. Past application systems, including expert systems, were unable to meet the requirement of reusability. Web services wipe out the barriers in system development and help system developers effectively meet user requirements. This study incorporates SOA and web services with expert systems built for wireless LAN (WLAN) problems to turn the WLAN problem diagnosis expert systems into a service component structured on web services. In this manner, external systems can transmit diagnosis requests via HTTP to the WLAN problem diagnosis expert system and obtain results from it. The WLAN problem diagnosis function of this system can help users deal with connection failures between their wireless devices and the access point, or denial to provide service caused by software setup. It helps users who transfer from wired networks to WLAN effectively identify the source of the problem and avoid unnecessary time spent on searching for answers to the problems.
