Abstract
Among DOE´s goals for inertial confinement fusion is support of construction of a heavy ion faci lity for demonstration experiments on deuterium tritium (DT) pel lets with ion beams of 25-100 kJ energy. Three accelerator laboratories (Argonne, Berkeley, and Brookhaven) are actively engaged in accelerator development toward this concept. This paper wi I I analyze and compare several accelerator systems which could meet the criteria for these demonstration experiments.
