Abstract
It follows from the equilibrium equation that ion current density in the magnetically insulated diode (MID) is limited by the finite value of magnetic field near anode. From this point of view some models of MID with different assumptions about electron flow are analysed and comparison with other theories is given. The results of numerical simulation of MID with different electron distributions are given. It is found that the ratio of anode and cathode magnetic fields is limited from above by lA = 1+eUA/mc2 in the model of slightly scattering electrons. The numerical simulation of H-field topology changing is carried out.
