Abstract :
Neutron production process in a high density Z-discharge formed with a small deuterated organic fiber was investigated. The Z-pinch discharge, which was self-crowbared at about peak current was driven with a pulse power generator. The neutron yield strongly depended on the load current but exhibited a weak dependence on the fiber diameter and length. As soon as abrupt current decrease, neutron burst, which consisted of fine structures, was observed and sometimes it had a double pulse structure. The onset time of the second burst increased almost linearly with the initial fiber diameter.
