  • Abstract
Electric machinery course is of an immense importance for students graduating in electrical engineering education. Since the electric machines environment is incessantly changing, especially with the introduction of electronic drives, computers and shipboards systems, then the revision of their curricula and the modernization of their experimental labs have been an unavoidable necessity. This paper proposes a way of modernizing this course consisting in developing virtual labs of most conventional machines. Namely, induction machines, single-phase transformers, salient-pole synchronous machines and DC machines. Each virtual lab will be presented by a parametric identification, an automated drawing of the considered machine diagram using MATLAB, and virtual models of the usual tests performed using Power Systems Block set of Simulink Library.
