Abstract
The electromagnetic interference impact of a mobile phone to implantable medical device in an elevator cabin is discussed based on electric field distribution measurement data. To measure the field strength, a simulated elevator cabin is constructed according to industry standards, which conform to wheelchair use. The resultant measured field strength shows that there is no electric field strength that has the potential to yield electromagnetic interference between an implantable cardiac pacemaker and a mobile phone if the isolation distance recommended by the pacemaker user guidelines is maintained for the implanted cardiac pacemaker.
