  • Abstract
    To calculate the accurate value of the dynamic capacitance of a line under corona surge is very important taking into account that the dynamic capacitance value is influencing strongly the distortion of the surges travelling on a line toward the substations. So, it is possible to know the most probable shape and amplitude of the surge in any point of the line to allow the designers to take into account the most adequate measures of protection. Also, in the case of the induced overvoltage surges the dynamic capacitance has a major function, the induced overvoltages just in the initiating point being distorted because of the corona discharge and so easier protection measures having to be taken in the medium voltage distribution lines and substations as well.
