Abstract :
Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) transmission /reception is one of the key technologies considered by Long Term Evolution - Advanced (LTE-A) as a tool to improve coverage, cell-edge throughput, and/or system efficiency. In this paper, a system-level simulation of intra-site CoMP Single User Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (SU-MIMO) is presented as an example to show the performance of downlink CoMP joint transmission, and the necessity of inter-cell phase information is analyzed. The evaluation results support that downlink CoMP would help to increase the cell-edge user throughput and inter-cell phase information is needed to guarantee coherent combining of the signals when operating coherent joint transmission.
