Abstract
The work in this paper researches directional flow of power at harmonic frequencies in an integrated HVAC/HVDC power system. An innovation is the introduction of the concepts sources and sinks to demonstrate directions. A nodal diagram and new formulae are developed for analysing harmonic source-sink relationships of real and reactive power directional flows. Harmonic penetration is investigated to evaluate nodal source-sink responses. Case studies are conducted using a time domain harmonic analysis software tool. This new approach has shown to be effective and can be used for enhancing understanding of directional power flows at harmonic frequencies.
