Abstract :
A novel double side tubular permanent magnet linear machine was proposed. In the machine, the permanent magnet reciprocated axially between two slotless stators made up by core and windings. The double side slotless construction not only eliminates the cogging force, but also can provide higher force density than the normal tubular machines. By using 2D finite element analysis, the performances of the novel machine with axial and radial magnetized permanent magnet were analyzed individually. The results show that the machine with radial magnetized permanent magnet can provide higher electromotive force (EMF) and thrust force than the construction with axial magnetized permanent magnet.
